Focused on Total Patient Comfort
Many patients experience high anxiety about visiting the dentist. Past negative incidents, fear, stress, shame—all these can lead to missed dental appointments. This is why such a large part of our focus is on your comfort, from the calming atmosphere to the complementary patient amenities and our many sedation dentistry options. We pride ourselves in offering gentle, compassionate care by leveraging sedation dentistry. Our goal is to make your experiences with us pleasant and relaxing, full of open communication and mutual trust. Through understanding of your unique patient needs, we will create an individualized pain management plan for your optimal relaxation, safety, and comfort. Additionally, in all circumstances, we make sure you are completely comfortable before we begin any numbing medication and help you relax with sedation dentistry.
We use local anesthetic to temporarily numb the treatment site and halt sensations of pain to the area. Oftentimes, this can be combined with oral sedation or nitrous oxide to increase total patient comfort. Local anesthetic may leave you feeling numb for a few hours after your procedure is complete, but will wear off without lingering effects.
The Wand® Anesthesia
The Wand anesthesia system is electronically administered and looks much like a ball point pen, with a very small needle at the tip. Along with appearing non-threatening, the computer delivers a controlled amount of anesthetic that numbs the area before the needle is inserted for a more comfortable delivery and virtually pain-less procedure.
Oral sedation is taken as a pill prior to the appointment, with calming and relaxing effects that will last throughout the procedure. This conscious form of sedation will not put patients to sleep, and they will be able to communicate during the appointment. Commonly, oral sedation leaves patients with little-to-no memory of the procedure.
Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) is a form of sedation administered through a mask that covers the nose. Patients begin to feel relaxed and comfortable within five minutes of breathing in laughing gas and effects wear off as soon as the mask is removed. Nitrous oxide provides a steady flow of sedation for both anxiety control and pain control.
